Position Summary: 

Families Belong Together, a campaign of the National Domestic Workers Alliance, is a coalition that includes nearly 250 organizations representing Americans from all backgrounds who have joined together to fight family separation and promote dignity, unity, and compassion for all. Together we have raised millions of dollars for immigrant children and families, mobilized hundreds of thousands of people in all 50 states to take action, and helped to reunite thousands of families. We are working to permanently end family separation and detention, seek accountability for the harm that’s been done, and immediately reunite all families who remain torn apart. 

Families Belong Together seeks an energetic, highly organized and self-directed Assistant to provide administrative and logistical support for FBT’s Co-Directors. One Co-Director focuses on managing and moving FBT’s campaign, field, communications, and culture change work forward, and the other Co-Director oversees the coalition and policy work. The Assistant will support the Directors in their role of advancing the organization in its strategic goals and objectives. The support will include assisting with day to day administration, logistics, scheduling, preparing materials, and tracking ongoing special projects of both directors. 


Serve as owner of scheduling and administrative support for the Co-Directors to maximize time management and ensure strategic priorities are consistently met in a complex and rapid-paced organizational environment, including, but not limited to:

  • Providing administrative support to the Co-Directors, including scheduling, expense reports, reimbursements and making travel arrangements.
  • ​Providing support in the form of taking notes during calls and meetings, doing background research, writing briefing memos, event management, and reports for appearances and meetings 
  • Responding to requests and inquiries from the public and from staff

Serve as day to day project manager on behalf of the Co-Directors for strategic initiatives by: 

  • Tracking initiatives, monitoring progress towards meeting goals and achieving benchmarks, ensuring follow-through on the part of key persons, and sustaining momentum needed to drive initiatives to completion;
  • Ensuring strategic communications and commitments are met, including scheduling and confirming internal and external meetings, cataloguing incoming emails, and tracking progress of certain conversations and projects; and
  • Overseeing analysis and dissemination of the Co-Directors’ key resources and lessons (speeches, decks, articles) to internal and external contacts as needed.
Job Requirements: 
  • Agreement and alignment with Families Belong Together’s vision and values;
  • ​Understanding of issues facing immigrant communities and other communities of color;
  • Expertise, skill, interest and commitment in doing administrative work, including office operations, communications systems, travel, database, and event support;
  • Skilled proficiency in Google Suite, including Google Calendar, Google Docs, and Google Sheets;
  • Excellent attention to detail and well organized;
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills required;
  • Experience in managing multiple projects and tasks;
  • Excellent relational skills: friendly, diplomatic, patient disposition;
  • Ability to work well with diverse groups and populations;
  • Self motivated and a proven ability to work independently and in partnership with a highly motivated team in a rapidly growing organization; 
  • Willingness to work east coast hours generally, along with occasional requests to work nights and weekends 
  • Ability to do occasional travel
